Stop-Motion and Photography

At Island Station Media Literacy participants explore how scenes are created by working with lighting, props, camera placement, and the art of visual storytelling. They can participate in stop-motion filming, where small movements are photographed one frame at a time to create the illusion of motion. Then see how the footage is organized and edited using industry software, giving them a hands-on introduction to the patience, planning, and creative decision-making involved in animation and post-production.

Participants with interest in photography will learn essential terms and camera settings, lighting options, framing shots, and equipment use. They will also learn editing software, cropping techniques, and what formats best used to create prints, or online content.
